What is GATE?

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coor dination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India.
GATE is NOT an admission ensuring examination. Qualifying in GATE amination does NOT guarantee admission/scholarship. Admission to any institute is fully dependent on the admitting institute’s criteria for educa tional qualification. Similarly, GATE qualification does not assure a Public Sector Undertaking (PS) job, as it depends on the recruitment procedure of the concerned PSU. ATE committee is NOT liable for any legal obliga tions related to admission/job.

    Number of Questions 10 (GA) + 55 (Chemstry) = 65 Questions
    Distribution of Marks in Chemistry (CY) Genaral Aptitude : 15 Marks
    Subjects Questions: 85 Marks = 100 Marks
    Marketing Scheme All of the questions will be of 1 mark and 2 marks
    Negative Marking For a wrong answer choosen in a MSQ, Ther will be negative marking. For 1-mark MSQ, 1/2 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2mark will be deducted for a wrong answer
